'We’re being IGNORED!' Fed-up Macron supporters grumble as leader's popularity DIVES

The French president’s honeymoon is over as his ten-week old administration attempts to steer through a series of unfortunate gaffes and stumbling blocks that have damaged his reputation and called his credibility into question.

En Marche supporters have now aired their concerns over the party and the way it is run.

Local campaign organiser Benoit Menard told France 24 he was unhappy with the way was running party policy by party members.

He said: “We were given a three-page document which summarises the statutes, it’s quite well done and it’s good this document exists but it’s not enough.

“It’s as if you’re given a summary of a law but it’s not the law itself. I want to see the full text so I can analyse it myself.”

Also speaking to the news channel was party member Tiphaine Beaulieu, who said she had received 534 complaints from fellow members.

She said: “I called several times but I don’t know why my ideas were not taken into account.

“We took part in the ‘grande marche’ – we were very useful at one point, now we’re being ignored.

“We’re treated with disdain when we propose our services, we’re no longer of interest to anybody.”

Addressing the concerns was Bariza Khiari, an En Marche national delegate, who insisted the party took on board the views of its members.

She said: “1,500 local committees and 26,000 members sent in their comments and we took them into account.

“Sometimes very pertinent points were made that we integrated into or statutes, for instance, local committees should have more say in decision-making in the National Council.”

The comments come as for crunch meetings and ordered a political shake up amid a series of gaffes.

It is believed policy mistakes and communications blunders will be placed under review as he seeks to regain his popularity.

He faced backlash after despite growing unpopularity.

The leader was elected in May with 66 per cent of the vote, but the 39-year-old has seen his approval rating plummet by up to 10 points.
