Alexis Sanchez won't want to play under Jose Mourinho at Man Utd – Ex-Spurs boss Sherwood

Sanchez is out of contract at Arsenal in the summer and is heavily linked with an exit this month.

Manchester City are the frontrunners to sign the Chile forward but Manchester United have launched an attempt to beat their rivals to his signature.

United made a bid of £25million to Arsenal yesterday and are also prepared to let Henrikh Mkhitaryan go in the opposite direction.

Sherwood reckons Arsenal should try and keep Sanchez for the remainder of the season as he is their best chance of finishing in the Champions League qualification places.

But the ex-Spurs manager says for an attacking player, playing under Pep Guardiola at City would be a better option for him than with Jose Mourinho at United if he did leave this month.

“They can offer what they want but I think ultimately it’s going to come down to where Alexis Sanchez wants to play,” Sherwood said on Sky Sports.

“Or Arsenal decide not to sell him and it’s worth more than £20m to them to finish in a Champions League spot.

“I think they’re better equipped with him than they are without him.

“After that, it’s about where he wants to play.

“I would suggest that an attacking player like him would rather play for Pep Guardiola than Jose Mourinho.”

“Obviously the key is the individual. Arsene knows Alexis Sanchez better than all of us, he would speak to him and make a judgement call on whether he’s going to give his best for the club.”
