Citi Prestige Unveils New 75K Offer

Years ago, the Citi Prestige credit card hit the travel credit card market with plenty of fanfare. The card came with a pricey $450 annual fee, we quickly learned, but that fee would be made up for with a signup bonus and plenty of perks.

At the time, the signup bonus was 50,000 Citi ThankYou points worth more than $500 in travel. The card also came with a $250 annual air travel credit, a fourth-night-free hotel benefit, airport lounge access benefit and an especially lucrative redemption option for flights with American Airlines (1.6 cents of airfare per point).

For a while, the card and its signup bonus went off the radar. But now it’s back and better than ever. Here’s how the card’s current offer looks:

Citi Prestige

—Earn 75,000 bonus ThankYou points after you use your card for $7,500 in purchases within three months of account opening
—Earn 3x points on airfare and hotels, 2x points on dining and entertainment and 1x points on all other purchases
—Complimentary fourth-night free hotel benefit
—Priority Pass Select Membership
—$100 Global Entry Application Fee Credit
—$450 Annual Fee

If you’re considering this card despite its high annual fee, you’re probably wondering where in the world these points can take you. The good news is, the wide range of Citi transfer partners means these points are just as flexible as Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards.

Not only can you use your Citi ThankYou points to book travel directly through the Citi travel portal, but you can transfer them to a slew of popular partners, including:

—Asia Miles
—EVA Air
—Etihad Guest
—Flying Blue
—Garuda Indonesia
—Singapore Airlines
—Thai Airways
—Virgin Atlantic
—Hilton Honors

While Citi lets you transfer points to their airline partners at a 1:1 ratio, transfers to Hilton are 1:1.5.

Either way, you could use these points to travel nearly anywhere on the globe–and through a variety of different routes with different airlines or the Citi travel portal.

The travel points you earn aren’t the only perks this card offers. As mentioned, the new offer on the Citi Prestige still comes with the annual $250 airfare credit and Priority Pass Select Membership. Getting a $100 global entry fee credit never hurts and being able to book your fourth night free at participating hotels can be a huge money-saver, too.

Are all these benefits worth the $450 annual fee? At the end of the day, only you can decide. In my humble opinion, getting the card and keeping it for a year is a no-brainer since the 75K signup bonus is worth a minimum of $750 but potentially a lot more via various transfer partners.

Before you sign up, however, it’s important to remember Citi’s rule regarding who is eligible for signup bonuses. If you have opened or closed a card that earns Citi ThankYou points within the last 24 months, you’re not eligible for the signup bonus on this card.
