Conor McGregor v Floyd Mayweather predictions: Anthony Joshua, David Haye and more

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather face off tonight in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The fight has caught the attention of everyone around the world with current and former professionals all providing their predictions for the upcoming fight.

Anthony Joshua

The current triple world heavyweight champion is one of many looking forward to what the outcome will be.

Joshua has gone with the majority in backing Mayweather to win but hopes McGregor will put up a good fight.

“He’s coming out of his field and going into Mayweather’s domain,” Joshua said. “Even though he’s an excellent fighter in UFC, he’s not an excellent boxer. Him crossing over is going to be a real, big challenge.

“He could give a good account of himself; I think Mayweather will win but as long as he gives a good account of himself, it’ll work really well for him.”

Chris Eubank Snr

Chris Eubank on the other hand believes McGregor is capable of causing an upset because of his fighting spirit.

“A lot of people who follow boxing are saying this is a farce,” Eubank Snr said.

“I am proof as a former participant of the great game, having had 24 world championship fights, five of them losses, 19 of them wins – I say it’s not a farce.

“I say this man has spirit. And he has fighting ability and if he uses the right method of competing against Mayweather, McGregor has a chance.”

Amir Khan

But former light-welterweight champion Amir Khan doesn’t believe the UFC fighter stands a chance of upsetting the odds.

“Looking at it as a fight, I just think that Mayweather is going to school him,” Khan said.

“After two rounds Mayweather is going to know exactly what McGregor is doing in the fight and he’s going to clean him.”

David Haye

And David Haye has followed his compatriots view by suggesting McGregor could leave himself wide open having not fought in a professional boxing match before.

“My prediction is Mayweather Jr to stop Conor McGregor in six rounds possibly on his feet,” Haye said.

“I don’t think it will take long. McGregor is used to getting taken down and he’s used to people kicking him, so his defensive mode won’t be that of a boxer.”

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson has gone one step further though by saying McGregor will be in a world of trouble once he steps in the ring.

“He’s gonna get killed,” Tyson said. “[McGregor] put his dumb a– in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out.

“Cause this guy’s been doing this all his life. Since he was a little baby.”
