Deadpool 2: Ryan Reynolds returns to set with moment of silence for dead stuntwoman

After a 48 hour break, the 40-year-old star is back to work on the Vancouver set.

Both cast and crew had taken the two days off to mourn the loss of Joi ’SJ’ Harris, who was tragically killed after her stunt went wrong.

Reynolds was spotted giving a speech before everyone bowed their heads for a moment’s silence in memory of Joi.

The stunt had been practised over five times in rehearsals before the actual take when she lost control of her motorbike.

According to Deadline: “Brought on only last Wednesday to the already filming sequel, Harris was doing her first picture as a stunt performer.

“Performing the stunt as the Domino character in the film and having done several takes successfully already, Harris was not wearing a helmet when the tragedy occurred.

“The previous stunt double did have a helmet outfitted to go under the Domino wig but because of the short notice of joining Fox’s Deadpool 2, Harris did not have time to get such a helmet made for her.”

The day of the accident,

He wrote: “Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool.

We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated… but recognise nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them – along with each and every person she touched in this world.”

Deadpool 2 will be released in UK cinemas on June 1, 2018.
