Kate Middleton news: Why the Duchess of Cambridge has been BANNED from signing autographs

If you ask the Duchess of Cambridge for an autograph, she’ll be forced to politely refuse.

Kate Middleton isn’t the only member of the royal family who will turn you down.

Prince Harry, Prince William and even the Queen herself are forbidden from awarding you the privilege.

The long-standing rule remains in place for all royals because of the risk of the signature being forged.

It’s just one item on a long list of strict protocols the royals must all follow.

Prince Charles reportedly responds to autograph requests with: “Sorry, they don’t allow me to do that.”

But he did break protocol back in 2010 when he signed an autograph for a victim of devastating floods.

He scrawled “Charles 2010” on a piece of paper, but has done nothing of the sort in all the years since.

But there’s a further meaning behind the piece of jewellery.

Princess Diana, wore a similar necklace, which was given to her by Prince Charles, and it included the word “William” engraved on the front.

In a blog post about the necklace, Merci Maman explained: “Upon the birth of Prince William in 1982, Prince Charles gave Diana the gift of a golf pendant engraved with their new son’s name, which she always wore close to her heart.

“In 2013, Pippa Middleton continued this family tradition by giving her sister Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge, our Personalised Duchess Necklace to celebrate the birth of Prince George.”
