Queen Letizia visits victims of Barcelona terror attack with husband King Felipe VI

Spain’s Queen Letizia, 44, and her husband King Felipe VI, 49, have been visiting the victims of Las Ramblas terrorist attack. 

On Thursday evening local reports claim a van – driven by a terrorist – zigzagged through the avenue intentionally striking the visiting crowds.

A taxi driver told Catalan TV station TV3: “The van was doing zigzags knocking over everyone he could. It was shocking.” The terrorist believed to have been driving the van is still on the run – and Spainish police have launched a nationwide manhunt for Younes Abouyaaqoub

The death toll from the incident has risen to 14 people with at least 100 futher people injured.

Spain’s King Felipe VI and his wife Queen Letizia visited the hospital with Spanish Minister of Health Dolors Montserrat this morning. 

The trio spoke with staff and victims of the attack at the Mar de Barcelona hospital during their visit. 

The Spanish Royal household reported that 14 people have died and 130 were injured when a van crashed into pedestrians in Las Ramblas, downtown Barcelona. 

Spanish police are treating the incident as a terror attack. 

Queen Letizia comforted many of the victims who were in bed with various injuries. 

Wearing a modest black and white outfit, the 44-year-old looked striking yet sophisticated as she spoke to the injured. 

Showing her caring side, Queen Letizia held hands with many of the victims as she spoke to them about the attack. 

Listening intently, she often smiled and reassured the victims.
