Star Wars ‘LEAK’: Has this BIG character just been revealed as part of the Han Solo movie?

Either someone said the wrong name by mistake, or Lupita Nyong’o will appear in the movie as Maz Kanata.

Kanata made her first appearance in 2015’s The Force Awakens, and is expected to return in a slightly smaller capacity in The Last Jedi at the end of the year.

But in the latest edition of podcast Steele Wars, an employee of the company Funko – who make pop culture toys for brands including Star Wars – listed Nyong’o as a member of the cast.

He spoke of his excitement at watching the Han Solo prequel due to the likes of “Emilia Clarke, Lupita Nyong’o, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover…”.

The moment was pounced upon by fans on Reddit, with one saying: “An actual juicy leak!! This would make sense, we could figure out how they knew each other and why she had such a wookiee crush.”

Someone else, user WarLordM123, pointed out: “Well, it would explain how he [Han] knew her, but would also p**s on his ANH characterization, where he calls the Force bogus.”

Nyong’o remains unmentioned on the Han Solo movie’s IMDb listing, so of course the Funko employee could have been mistaken.

But given how little is still known about the film, and also that it’s perfectly feasible for the toy company to have been in talks with Lucasfilm about what (and who) it involves, there’s certainly cause for speculation.

As it stands, the prequel – which still does not have an official title – boasts the likes of Clarke, Harrelson, Glover, Thandie Newton, Clint Howard, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo.

Alden Ehrenreich, meanwhile, will play the title role.

Express.co.uk has contacted a Disney rep for comment on the Nyong’o rumour.

The film’s out in May 2018.
