Strictly host Winkleman: Forsyth was 'King of TV'

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman has paid tribute to her predecessor, Sir Bruce Forsyth.

As the news of the 89-year-old’s death broke, she posted on Twitter: “He was the King of TV, the Prince of performers and the most generous of people… all toe-tapping twinkle, all kindness, all love….”

She followed it with: “The Bruce you saw really was the man he was. We’ll miss him so much.”

Actress Joan Collins said: “Very sad to hear of Sir Bruce Forsyth’s death. It is a huge loss to the world he was one-of-a-kind.”

Former BBC Chairman Lord Grade said “nobody in the history of British show business” had “worked as hard” as Sir Forsyth while enduring “in the public’s affection” generation after generation.

“It’s a staggering, staggering achievement that will never ever be surpassed,” Lord Grade said.

Martine McCutcheon lamented the loss of “one of the absolute greats” while presenter Zoe Ball described Sir Bruce as a “truly natural and magical entertainer”.
